Is Sustagen® Sport suitable for me?
- Can I consume Sustagen® Sport when pregnant?
- Sustagen® Sport during pregnancy should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision. Additional nutritional intake during pregnancy may be beneficial to meet increased nutritional needs, however you should not take vitamin and mineral supplements except under the supervision of your health professional. - Is Sustagen® Sport suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
- As Sustagen® Sport is milk based it is only suitable for vegetarians who consume dairy products as part of their eating plan (eg. non-red meat eaters; lacto-ovo or lacto vegetarians). It is not suitable for non-dairy vegetarians (eg. ovo vegetarians or vegans). Storage and Usage
- Can I make Sustagen® Sport with full cream milk instead of low fat/skim milk?
- Yes, however the fat content per serve will be different to what is stated on the packaging.
- How long can Sustagen® Sport be kept once prepared?
- Sustagen® Sport powder could be mixed with water and stored in the fridge, but should be consumed within 24 hours. It is recommended that once mixed, it remains refrigerated. To carry to sporting events, you could pre-measure the powder in a drink bottle and then add the water from another container just prior to consumption or alternatively mix with water and include water ice blocks to keep cool.
- Can Sustagen® Sport still be consumed if it has gone past the expiry date?
- No. It’s best to consume Sustagen® Sport within the best before date as we cannot guarantee the integrity or quality of the product after that date.
- What is the shelf life of Sustagen® Sport once it has been initially opened?
- If Sustagen® Sport is firmly re-sealed, using the plastic yellow resealable lid, it may be kept from time of opening the seal for a period of 3 months in a cool, dry place. If not sealed properly, the powder may be prone to clumping due to moisture. It is important that Sustagen® Sport powder is kept dry to ensure a 3 month shelf life, so it is recommended that a clean, dry measuring scoop or spoon is used when preparing the powder.
